Welcome to the Stony Creek Volunteer Fire Company Inc.

We are a small independent fire company located in the town of Stony Creek, which is nestled in the southern Adirondack Mountains in the southwestern corner of Warren County, near Lake George, in the state of New York.  We contract with the Town of Stony Creek to provide fire and ambulance protection for a town of approximately 84 square miles and about 850 year round residents. 

The present company was formed on April 17, 1951.  

The first truck was a borrowed 1920 American LaFrance. 

The first truck ever owned by the fire company was a 1929 Sanford purchased in 1953 for $1,000.00

A home built tanker was put in service a couple of years later. 

The present emergency squad was formed in 1955. 

The first ambulance was a 1941 Buick hearse donated by a local funeral home and converted by the firemen themselves. 

The first new piece of equipment was a 1965 Pontiac ambulance bought for about $10,000.00

 The first new fire truck was a 1970 John Bean.  The approximate cost of this vehicle was $27,000.00

The fire company had no contract with the town until 1952.  Any monies needed were raised by the firemen themselves through dinners, dances and other fund raisers.  In 1952 the fire company got a contract with the town for $1,500.00 a year.  Our present contract is for $86,000.00
